1-800 Flowers is looking to add 10,000 associates for holiday seasonal work across its family of brands, including Harry & David, PersonalizationMall.com, Cheryl’s Cookies and The Popcorn Factory.
The online florist reported record revenue growth, and the company expects double-digit growth to continue into 2022. In its new hiring push, 1-800 Flowers will quadruple its workforce to meet increased demand for online gifting. Full- and part-time roles are being offered in Illinois, Oregon and Ohio, including some work-from-home positions.
In addition, Dollar General, which initiated a hiring event earlier this summer, is continuing its hiring efforts after reaching its goal of adding 50,000 new associates by Labor Day, the company announced. The company is looking for applicants for its stores, distribution centers, the DG private fleet and its store support center.
Both retailers are searching for employees during a tight labor market and amid a rise in COVID-19 cases in the U.S.
To incentivize applicants, Dollar General is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to drivers with an active Commercial Driver’s License for its distribution centers and private fleet positions. The bonus is from now until Jan. 28, 2022, to be paid within an employees’ first six months of employment. The company is also offering referral, performance and retention bonuses. Plus, drivers can now bring their pets along with them on the road in the company’s new initiative to bring an eligible “co-pilot.”
“Our distribution centers and private fleet network are the heartbeat of DG’s supply chain and demonstrate our mission of Serving Others by playing a critical role in ensuring customers find the products they need at their local Dollar General,” said Tony Zuazo, executive vice president of global supply chain, Dollar General. “As our supply chain team expands to serve additional DG stores and communities, we are proud to offer our new and current employees numerous opportunities to grow their careers with us.”
