Afterpay Expands In-Store Option to Nordstrom, J.Crew, Madewell and More Retailers

The payment services company is available at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, J.Crew, Madewell, American Eagle, Aerie, Tilly's, Morphe, Alo Yoga, Parachute Home, and Le Creuset Signature Boutiques and Outlet Stores. 

The company’s in-store payment service enable retailers to provide customers with an option to pay for their purchases over time with four interest-free payments. Instead of layaway, customers can take home their purchases right away. 

The expansion for Afterpay comes as 25% of consumers plan to make their holiday purchases primarily in-store. Additionally, roughly half are shopping early to ensure availability of the gifts they want to purchase. The Afterpay Card has been added to the wallets of roughly 6 million customers for the in-store payment services, according to the company. Nearly 100,000 retailers offer Afterpay payment solutions as of June 30, 2021.

"The current economic climate and supply chain issues have impacted the way consumers are shopping this holiday season, proving an even greater need for flexible shopping and payment options," said David Di Bene, vice president of retail marketing at Afterpay. 

In addition, Afterpay announced a partnership with Marshall Retail Group, an airport and resort-casino specialty retailer, that enables customers to use Afterpay during their holiday travel.

The company also announced an AR-activated scavenger hunt experience with Westfield centers that leverages Westfield's high-impact digital network, and will feature QR codes throughout participating Westfield centers. Shoppers will be prompted to scan and help find Afterpay's Hidden Helpers in AR, whereupon shoppers will be taken on a whimsical holiday adventure to uncover five Hidden Helpers throughout the center to unlock special deals and promotions at Afterpay retailers.
