The bonuses will be $300 for full-time employees and $150 for part-time employees.
Amazon is planning more bonuses as the holiday season ramps up.
According to Dave Clark, SVP of Amazon Worldwide Operations, the bonuses will go to Operations employees who are employed by the company from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31. The bonuses will be $300 for full-time employees and $150 for part-time employees.
Combined with other holiday pay incentives, in this quarter Amazon is investing over $750 million in additional pay for its front-line hourly workforce, on top of the retailer’s $15 national minimum wage, Clark said. This brings Amazon’s special bonuses and incentives for its teams globally to over $2.5 billion in 2020, including a $500 million thank you bonus earlier this year.
“I've been at Amazon for 22 holiday seasons and this one is definitely unique, to say the least,” Clark said. “Our teams are doing amazing work serving customers' essential needs, while also helping to bring some much-needed holiday cheer for socially-distanced families around the world. I've never been more grateful for—or proud of—our teams.”
Amazon ins on the only retail offering fresh bonuses. Before Thanksgiving, Dollar General said it will award approximately $50 million in additional appreciation bonuses to eligible front-line employees in the fourth quarter.
That doubles its planned investment in these bonuses in the back half of the year and brings its Q3 and Q4 commitment to approximately $100 million in total. Dollar General now plans to award up to approximately $173 million to store, distribution center and private-fleet employees during its 2020 fiscal year.
