BJ’s Teams Up with DoorDash for Delivery

The partnership enables BJ’s to offer on-demand grocery delivery from 226 store locations across 17 states. While BJ’s is a membership retailer, BJ’s products can be purchased directly on the DoorDash app with or without a membership. Shoppers that are BJ’s members can link their membership cards to the DoorDash app for member-only pricing.
"BJ’s is proud to bring the convenience and value our members know and love to even more shoppers through the DoorDash marketplace,” Monica Schwartz, executive vice president and chief digital officer at BJ’s Wholesale Club, said in a statement. “We are excited to expand easy shopping solutions for our members, while also bringing BJ’s wide assortment and exclusive products to new potential members.”
Executive Summary
DoorDash is one of the biggest third-party delivery service providers in the U.S. The company saw huge growth during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as Americans pulled back from in-person activities and more heavily relied on delivery services. While some retailers have outsourced delivery services to third-party operators like DoorDash, others have ramped up their own services to expand omnichannel offerings.
“We see the trend towards convenience only going in one direction, with grocery delivery being no exception,” said Shanna Prevé, vice president, business development at DoorDash. "We are thrilled to welcome BJ’s to the DoorDash platform as our first wholesale club on the marketplace, continuing our mission to provide consumers with the convenience and savings they crave, while empowering merchants to reach customers wherever they are.”
In addition to BJ’s being on DoorDash’s platform, BJ’s is also available for orders on DoorDash’s white-label fulfillment platform, DoorDash Drive. The platform powers direct delivery for any business, and BJ’s members can receive their orders directly to their home. To celebrate the partnership, DoorDash will offer customers 30% off their order of $100 or more (up to a total value of $40) for BJ’s on the marketplace from March 29 through April 12.
