CVS Health to Hire 25K in Virtual Career Event

CVS Health is looking to add 25,000 new workers to its team through a virtual career event.

The one-day event, taking place Sept. 24, aims to recruit full-time, part-time and temporary licensed pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians and nurses at CVS Pharmacy store locations.

Executive Summary

The hiring blitz comes ahead of the busy flu season and as CVS continues to administer COVID-19 vaccines and tests. CVS is not the only retailer with thousands of open roles; a number of other major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart and Dollar Tree, are hiring for tens of thousands of positions over the last few months. With so many open roles in retail, companies are raising wages and increasing benefits to attract and retain workers.

Some of CVS Health’s roles require higher qualifications, making the candidate pool even tighter. The retail pharmacy chain has administered more than 34 million COVID-19 vaccines and more than 32 million tests, making it a critical player in the fight against the virus.

"Every flu season we need additional team members, but this year we're looking for even more. With the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities, we're estimating a much greater need for pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians, nurses, and retail store associates,” Neela Montgomery, executive vice president of CVS Health and president of CVS Pharmacy, said in a statement. “These jobs offer a rewarding opportunity to really make an impact on public health in our country."

The nationwide hiring event also comes after CVS Health said it will raise its corporate minimum wage to $15 per hour, starting July 2022. Employees will also receive incremental raises, starting immediately.
