Dollar General to Hike Hours, Not Wages
Dollar General plans to spend more on labor, but it will do so by offering employees increased hours instead of more money, the Wall Street Journal reports. The chain had kept labor costs low through minimal staffing, but intends to improve service simply by having more employees on hand. Dollar General says it pays all of its full-time employees more than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, and that part-timers making the minimum are eligible for a raise after five months.
