Drug Store Sales Get Boost From Flu

Flu-related prescriptions and visits to drug stores' in-store clinics have provided healthy sales growth at U.S. drug store chains, The Wall Street Journal reported. CVS Caremark Corp. said same-store sales rose 4 percent in the fourth quarter due partly to sales of flu-related remedies and record MinuteClinic visits. Walgreens said flu-related prescriptions boosted same-store pharmacy sales 2 percent last month, while RiteAid reported a 4.2 percent increase in nonpharmacy sales of over-the-counter products for flu and cold symptom relief.
