The company announced that Madeira, the former President and CEO of Walmart.com, has joined Ipsy as President.

Fernando Madeira is bringing his decades of e-commerce experience to fast-growing beauty retailer Ipsy.

The company announced that Madeira, the former President and CEO of Walmart.com, has joined Ipsy as President.

Madeira brings nearly 30 years of commerce, media and technology experience to Ipsy. Jennifer Goldfarb, Ipsy co-founder and former President, will stay actively involved with the company in her new role as Executive Chairwoman.

Madeira spent nearly 3 years as president and CEO of Walmart.com, where he led the U.S. and Latin American websites, accelerating the sites’ growth to deliver a seamless shopping experience for customers. He also co-founded and spent 23 years as the CEO of Terra, the first Internet portal in Brazil, where he led ground-breaking initiatives including the development of the first legal music distribution website, as well as the first internet TV studio in Latin America.

“What impresses me most about ipsy is the company’s strong connection with its community,” said Madeira. “Leveraging the power of media and e-commerce—two industries that are very close to me—Ipsy has built an incredible place for creators and enthusiasts to showcase their unique beauty and empower others to do the same. I’m looking forward to working closely with Marcelo, Jennifer and the team to create more opportunities for people to experience beauty in new and different ways.”

In addition, the company announced that Shopper, Ipsy’s e-commerce business, has launched out of beta with 400% growth since it began testing the new service in November 2017. Ipsy Shopper has launched with over 20,000 SKUs from over 200 innovative beauty brands, including bareMinerals, Smashbox Cosmetics, Tarte Cosmetics, OUAI, and OFRA Cosmetics.

“Over the last six years, we’ve created a powerful platform for individuals to express their unique beauty, connect with one other, and discover new products, looks and brands that are personal to them,” said Marcelo Camberos, CEO and Co-Founder of ipsy. “Fernando’s commerce expertise and his deep roots in media are a perfect fit for ipsy as we continue to scale our media platform and manage the tremendous growth from our e-commerce business--which is growing even faster than the Glam Bag in its early days.”

Founded in 2011, Ipsy has built a highly personalized subscription service and e-commerce marketplace.
