Florida Consumers Demand Local Foods

More than half of all Florida households purchased food grown locally or regionally at retail supermarkets, according to a University of Florida study. Local food represents about 20 percent of all Florida food purchased for at-home consumption, not including restaurant take-out meals. Prior estimates from other states have local food accounting for about 5 percent of all food sales.
