Florida Legislation to Help Alleviate Food Desert Woes

One, which already has been signed into law, “broadly expands” the use of debit cards used by food stamp recipients, allowing them to purchase fruit and vegetables at farmers markets. The other, which has yet to be signed into law, would create a pilot program that will finance the expansion or renovation of existing grocery stores in food deserts.
