New General Mills CEO Jeff Harmening sees e-commerce as a major way to increase sales and remain at the top of mind of shoppers.

In a new interview with the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Harmening, 50, says he thinks General Mills can turn around embattled brands such as Yoplait yogurt while building on the strength of acquired lines like Annie’s, a maker of organic foods. As larger, more established manufacturers have faced struggles in the past few years to remain relevant, Harmening says he wants to accelerate sales through online sites like or, a bright spot for the company’s sales.
