Getir, an ultrafast grocery delivery services provider based in Istanbul, has arrived in the Big Apple, offering order fulfillment in as little as 10 minutes.
Getir is available to customers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and part of Queens, with continued expansions in the coming weeks. The tech company offers roughly 2,000 everyday items, such as beverages, snacks, cleaning materials, pet supplies and more.
The company’s landing in New York underscores the rising grocery delivery battles as more third-party service providers speed up delivery times to just minutes. The shorter delivery times are more popular and plausible in densely populated cities where delivery services can fulfill online orders from their own small-format grocery stores.
The news also comes on the heels of DoorDash’s latest 10-15-minute grocery delivery offering in NYC. DoorDash is one of the biggest food delivery service providers and the third-largest e-commerce banner. The company added grocery delivery in 2020 and more recently announced a partnership with grocer Albertsons to deliver orders from 2,000 stores on the DoorDash platform.
Getir was founded in 2015 in Istanbul and has continued to grow rapidly. With its presence in NYC, Getir now operates in nine countries. The company has raised more than $1.1 billion, with a valuation of $7.7 billion.
