The global health and wellness company struck an exclusive deal with the world’s largest retailer to carry the select products that will be more accessible than ever for new and current customers. GNC will first offer an initial selection of men’s and women’s everyday vitamins in different formats. More offerings, such as sports nutrition and weight management products, will be added over time to Walmart’s shelves, GNC announced.
GNC is the largest global specialty retailer of nutritional products, with 4,800 U.S. locations, according to its website. The partnership comes after GNC filed for bankruptcy in October 2020 after facing store closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company was sold to Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Holding Co., which was the GNC’s largest shareholder.
"Millions know and trust our brand, and with this collaboration we can deliver the GNC experience to a whole new group of consumers. With retailers like Walmart in our court I'm confident our expanding wholesale distribution will continue making GNC the most trusted and recognized personal health and wellness brand in the marketplace," said Josh Burris, Chief Executive Officer of GNC. "The future of the wellness industry has a place for everyone, and GNC is making a healthy lifestyle more accessible than ever by delivering quality products to consumers via Walmart's expansive network of stores."
The company already has a partnership with Rite Aid, and GNC counts 1,200 Rite Aid store-within-a-store locations among its 4,800-store footprint.
