Kroger 'grocerant' a big hit with shoppers
Kitchen 1883, the Kroger Co.’s first stand-alone restaurant concept, is so popular with shoppers that one-hour wait times are not uncommon.
According to WCPO TV in Union, Ken., the restaurant has been doing "great brunch business on Saturday and Sunday,” said General Manager Jay Denham. “We have lots of families coming in, people coming in while their significant other goes next door and grocery shops.”
The 94-seat restaurant is part of the company's Restock Kroger strategy to gain more of what CEO Rodney McMullen has called “stomach share.”
