Lidl looks to enter San Antonio market
Lidl is buying up more land in San Antonio as it looks to enter the city’s grocery market.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, Lidl purchased 5.6 acres Nov. 3 near the intersection of Culebra and Grissom roads on the city’s Northwest Side — just across Grissom Road from an H-E-B store and catty-corner to a Walmart location, according to Bexar County deed records.
Lidl spokesman William Harwood told the newspaper that the grocer, based in Germany with stateside operations headquartered in Virginia, has “secured a number of sites in the area for future growth” but is focusing on expanding along the East Coast.
