  • Furniture retailer Mathis Home has launched a new e-commerce platform.
  • The platform is called Mathis Marketplace, and it was created by e-commerce solutions provider Mirakl.
  • Mathis Home says the new service will allow it to quickly fulfill orders from its own collections and from third-party retailers.

Mathis Home in December launched a new e-commerce platform that offers its own furniture items as well as products from third-party retailers.

The platform, Mathis Marketplace, was announced by the retailer in a Dec. 15 release. Mathis Home said the platform would allow it to expand its product offerings — home furnishings and mattresses — into new categories that include baby, kitchen and home organization. The platform was created by Mirakl, the Boston-based company that makes e-commerce solutions for retailers. Mirakl has also worked on e-commerce platforms for retailers and brands that include Best Buy Canada, Carrefour, Kroger and Toyota Material Handling.

"Our ultimate goal in launching this marketplace is to expand the ways in which we serve our customers," said Rit Mathis, chief marketing officer at Mathis Home, in the release. "The Mathis Marketplace offers us the chance to seamlessly collaborate with third-party sellers, and identify those who offer the best products for our loyal customer base. Over time, we expect to offer selections in-store from the most successful third-party vendors as well, ensuring that all Mathis Home shoppers have access to the most sought-after home goods."

The platform, according to the release, will enable Mathis Home to rely on distributed catalogs and logistics from hundreds of third-party sellers to provide shoppers with regular availability of customer favorites and other trending products, enabling the retailer to rapidly fulfill orders.

At launch, Mathis is partnering with brands like the furniture and rug retailer Surya. The retailer said it expects to partner with dozens more retailers to offer hundreds of thousands of new products by the end of next year, the release said. Items purchased on Mathis Home’s new e-commerce platform will be eligible to earn rewards through its Mathis Rewards Program, which gives shoppers two points for every dollar spent.
