The partnership is the latest example of the shop-in-shop trend sweeping the retail industry. Retailers that may have once been considered competitors have increasingly teamed up to share retail space and customers. Walmart competitor Target launched its partnership with Ulta Beauty to feature in-store shops at certain locations earlier this year.
The new Dormez-Vous Express stores are the first licensee arrangement with a retailer and marks an expansion of the company's sleep ecosystem with Walmart Canada. The store footprint will average around 500 square feet, appearing inside the Brossard Walmart, Kirkland Walmart and the Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville Walmart. The sites will offer cash-and-carry products and traditional mattresses delivered with the company's white-glove service.
The stores will feature a curated assortment of products, including the brand’s signature bed-in-a-box selection as well as sheets, pillows, headboards and eight to nine traditional mattresses for customers to experience on-site. Each store will be staffed by the brand’s experts.
"At Walmart Canada, we strive to bring top quality, affordable products to our customers that transform their everyday lives and help them live better," said Sam Hamam, senior director of licensees at Walmart Canada. "The ‘Dormez-Vous Express’ stores provide a competitive advantage that puts a spotlight on the importance of sleep. We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Dormez-vous in our continued commitment to the well-being of all Quebecers."
