Midwesterners Most Likely to Join Fuel Rewards Programs

They also are somewhat more active loyalty program members in comparison to consumers in other regions, representing nearly one-third of all Fuel Rewards program activity (32 percent, compared to 31 percent of Southerners, 26 percent of Westerners and 25 percent of Northeasterners). Falling gas prices did not have any effect on consumer enthusiasm for saving money on fuel: Between 2013 and 2015, when gas prices fluctuated between $2 and $4 per gallon, redemption rates in Excentus’ Fuel Rewards program held steady at about 65 percent, and members continued redeeming savings on fill-ups that averaged 12 to 13 gallons per month. Moreover, members’ frequency of redemption increased throughout 2015 as gas prices fell, from about 1.4 to two fill-ups per month.
