Nestle, Danone Bid for Pfizer’s Baby Food Unit
Two major European-based food companies, Nestle SA and Danone SA, made first-round offers for Pfizer’s infant-nutrition unit, which had nearly $2 billion in revenue in 2010. However, a tax-free spin-off is still an option for the company, and bidding companies may yet face antitrust concerns, according to anonymous sources that spoke to Bloomberg.com.
