The new Sam's Club is nothing like the old Sam's Club
Walmart plans to open a (much) smaller, high-tech version of Sam's Club in a 32,000-square-foot box in the Dallas area.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the store will be convenience-focused and offer Scan and Go technology. The store will open this fall in a former Neighborhood Market, a 32,000-square-foot building (a regular Sam's Club comprises 100,000 to 150,000 square feet).
The store will have about 1,000 to 2,000 items versus 6,000 in a regular Sam's Club. It will lean more toward convenience items and mostly fresh foods and grab-and-go meals.
