Customers can place an order online or on the Office Depot app for store or curbside pickup and retrieve their order in 30 minutes. For orders that aren’t ready in 30 minutes, customers will receive $5 off their next qualifying order.
The new offering reveals the rising competition among retailers to speed up order times to customers. On-demand delivery services for everyday items and groceries are also upping their capabilities to deliver orders faster, with one Germany-based on-demand delivery company offering deliveries in 15 minutes.
Office Depot, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The ODP Corporation, is making the 30-minute pickup service available at both Office Depot and OfficeMax stores. The retailer, which is based in Boca Raton, Florida, enhanced its pickup service to improve the customer experience.
“As work models and learning environments continue to evolve, customers are looking for solutions to meet their school and business needs in near real time to maintain productivity,” Kevin Moffitt, chief retail officer for Office Depot, said in a statement. “We are making a promise to our customers that online and mobile orders will be available for in-store and curbside pickup in 30 minutes--guaranteed. By improving our fulfillment time from 1 hour to 30 minutes, we are reinforcing our commitment to speed and convenience."
Office Depot also offers other omnichannel shopping solutions, including same-day delivery and free next-day delivery.
