The open roles were within Amazon’s corporate and technology teams, across more than 220 locations in the U.S., plus tens of thousands of roles in its operations network. The hiring push comes ahead of the busy holiday shopping season, with many retailers expanding their in-store and corporate teams.

A labor shortage has pushed retailers, including Amazon, to increase wages and benefits over the last year-plus.

More than 2,000 Amazon recruiters offered 30,000 individual career coaching sessions with participants, Chain Store Age reported. Job seekers were offered professional advice on starting, transitioning or growing their careers, at Amazon or elsewhere.

The company has been on a hiring blitz after experiencing significant growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Amazon has hired more than 450,000 people in the U.S. since the start of the pandemic, making the e-commerce giant the largest job creator in the nation, according to Amazon.
