Petco Health and Wellness Co. Inc. expanded its partnership with DoorDash – one of its existing fulfillment partners – to make Petco's assortment of products available nationally via the DoorDash Marketplace. Through the DoorDash mobile app and website, shoppers will have access to Petco's selection of products for on-demand delivery.
"Our expanded partnership with DoorDash makes Petco's differentiated assortment of health and wellness products accessible to even more pet parents across the country," said Darren MacDonald, Petco’s chief customer officer, in a press release.
More than 10,000 products from Petco are now available on DoorDash Marketplace, including food, treats, beds, bowls, toys and other supplies for a variety of pets such as dogs, cats, small animals, fish, reptiles and birds. In honor of National Dog Day on August 26, DoorDash will offer 50% off customers' Petco orders of $25 or more (up to $20) within the DoorDash mobile app or website from August 21 to August 27.
"98% of DoorDash consumers in the U.S. have access to retail or grocery stores on our platform,” said Fuad Hannon, DoorDash’s VP of new verticals. “The future of commerce is on-demand and local as consumers want faster and easier ways to get the items they need delivered to them right now. Whether it's the dog food you forgot to grab while out or a treat or toy, consumers now have convenient on-demand access to pets' whole health needs. Our partnership helps Petco meet consumers where they are and further fulfills DoorDash's mission to grow and empower local economies."
Petco offers fulfillment solutions, including buy online, pick-up in store; curbside pickup; same-day delivery and repeat delivery. Petco's same-day delivery and eligible repeat delivery orders are fulfilled through DoorDash.
Petco also has unveiled updates within the Petco app, including a streamlined profile for pets' wellness needs. The pet profile provides pet owners a centralized way to stay current on care for their pets — including nutrition, vaccinations and grooming appointment reminders.
Additionally, Petco now offers Klarna's interest-free Pay in 4 solution for purchases made within the Petco app. Klarna's payment option was already available on Petco.com, across Petco's more than 1,500 pet care centers nationwide and in the Klarna app since 2021.
DTC dog food addition
Earlier this week, Petco also exclusively partnered with direct-to-consumer retailer Ollie, the second largest subscription-based dog food brand in the U.S., to merchandise Ollie’s human-grade fresh and baked food, treats and supplements in Petco stores. Previously only available direct-to-consumer through an online subscription, Ollie’s assortment are available at petco.com/Ollie, via the Petco app, and in 800 Petco pet care centers nationwide by the end of September.

“The fresh food category continues to experience incredible growth as pet parents seek out the same high-quality ingredients for their furry family members as they do for themselves,” said Amy College, Petco’s chief merchandising officer, in a press release. “We’re thrilled about this innovative partnership with Ollie to expand access to human-grade nutrition and give pet parents more convenient options to help keep pets healthy and happy.”
Most of Ollie’s products will be located within a dedicated fixture in Petco pet care centers. The Ollie fixture includes a freezer with four core recipes of fresh food designed in partnership with veterinary nutritionists, plus shelving with baked food, treats, dental chews and supplements.
Shoppers can choose from frozen and baked recipes featuring human-grade chicken, beef, turkey or pork, plus fruits and vegetables. Additionally, Petco offers a variety of Ollie’s treats – crunchy, training, jerky, and dental – made with ingredients such as sweet potatoes, beef, chicken and apple, as well as supplements ranging from probiotics to hip and joint chews.
The retailer will also merchandise four expanded Ollie’s fixtures inside Petco pet care centers in San Diego; San Francisco; Boston; and Tacoma, Washington, with more coming in 2024. The expanded fixtures include Ollie’s complete pet food, treat, dental chew and supplement collection, as well as free, exclusive experiential features such as a button-automated crunchy treat dispenser and easily accessible mirror for pups on the bottom shelf.
