Customers can access select promotions from Sephora's Beauty Insider program and other features via Instacart.
Instacart is making it easier for consumers to keep up appearances during the pandemic.
The delivery service, most notable for its work with food retailers, said that it will now offer same-day deliveries of products from cosmetics and personal care retailer Sephora.
Consumers will be able to receive those retail deliveries in as little as an hour from nearly all of the more than 400 Sephora stores in North America when the program fully rolls out.
As of Thursday, Sept. 24, Sephora is available on the Instacart marketplace, offering its selection of makeup, skin care, hair care, wellness, beauty tools and fragrances at in-store pricing. As part of the new partnership, customers will also be able to access select promotions from Sephora's Beauty Insider program and earn points on every Sephora order placed on the Instacart marketplace.
Sephora same-day delivery powered by Instacart is now available in select store locations in California and Canada, and will expand to more than 400 stores over the coming weeks.
“Instacart has become part of the household rhythm for people across North America looking to have the groceries and goods they need delivered same-day from the retailers they know and love,” said Chris Rogers, VP of retail at San Francisco-based Instacart. “For many people, the essentials they need go beyond fresh food and pantry staples and, over the last few years, we've seen an increase in customer demand for personal care, wellness and beauty products.”
The move, of course, reflects the general growth of e-commerce in all retail sectors during the pandemic.
“We're always looking for unique, yet practical ways to meet our clients at every touchpoint; and now more than ever, we know they seek ease and convenience,” said Carolyn Bojanowski, SVP and GM of e-commerce for Paris-based Sephora. “With our Instacart partnership, we can offer a new same-day delivery service option to our existing clients, and also introduce some of the benefits of being a Sephora client to Instacart's marketplace.”
As part of this partnership, Instacart has developed new product functionality that brings the uniqueness of the Sephora store experience to life on the Instacart marketplace. The new consumer shopping design makes it easier for Sephora Beauty Insiders and new customers alike to seamlessly browse and shop from Sephora's more than 300 carefully curated brands and thousands of unique products, and quickly find their perfect color through a new, one-click shade selector.
Additionally, Sephora and Instacart are bringing the perks of Sephora's Beauty Insider loyalty program to the Instacart marketplace. Now, all Beauty Insider members can earn points on every Sephora purchase they make via Instacart. Beauty Insider members in the United States and Canada will also have access to Sephora's Savings Events on Instacart, giving customers access to various deals.
Instacart Retail Growth
Late in August, Instacart said it would team up with The Vitamin Shoppe, based in Secaucus, New Jersey, to provide same-day delivery of health-and-wellness products from more than 720 of its stores — an example of how Instacart is growing in the world outside of food retail, and serving the health, beauty and wellness desires of consumers during the pandemic.
Instacart today partners with more than 400 national, regional and local retailers to offer delivery from 30,000-plus stores across more than 5,500 cities in the United States and Canada. Instacart delivery is currently available to more than 85% of households in the United States and more than 70% of households in Canada.
