Some Say Food Chains Misuse “Artisan” Label

Artisanal foods are hot, but can any company adopt the moniker? Some small businesses that make products by hand suggest Dunkin' Donuts and Domino's Pizza are applying the term "artisan" to their products incorrectly and for marketing purposes, MSNBC.com reported. A competing bagel shop in Woodside, N.Y., sent a cease-and-desist letter to Dunkin' Donuts over its use of “artisanal bagels” to describe its products.
