Sun Basket cuts down meal prep time

By Louisa Hallett - 07/18/2018
The launch follows recent trends of other meal kit competitors, such as HelloFresh, which announced their 20-Minute Meals last September.

Sun Basket is following the latest meal kit trend by launching a product that takes only 20 minutes to prepare.

Sun Basket has launched its new Quick & Easy Meal Plan, “designed to help busy Americans get nutritious meals on the table in as little as 20 minutes.” The launch follows recent trends of other meal kit competitors, such as HelloFresh, who announced their 20-Minute Meals last September.

The company claims that, according to a recent survey, over 72 percent of Americans now cook at home four or more nights a week, with over 50 percent of them not being able to quickly create meals that provide adequate nutrition. The company’s co-founder, Justine Kelly, devised this menu that is supposed to be inclusive to all the company’s dietary-specific consumers.

"We created the Quick & Easy Meal plan based on overwhelming demand from our busy customers who want even faster delicious recipes that still meet their dietary preferences," said Adam Zbar, CEO and co-founder of Sun Basket. "What makes these 20 minutes recipes truly special is that we've been able to make our recipes over 30 percent faster than previous Sun Basket meals without sacrificing premium quality and delicious flavors—the hallmarks of our brand standard."

Sun Basket's new Quick & Easy meals include:

  • 20-Minute Meals - “When you want to get dinner on the table fast, these recipes are designed to go from start to finish in just 20 minutes”
  • Easy Prep - “Ignore complicated recipes with numerous steps to prepare and cook the meal; these streamlined recipes with fewer steps are simple and quick to the table”
  • One-Pan Meals - “Forget the heavy cleanup; only one pan is needed to cook these flavorful dishes”
  • Grill It - “Some of the recipes can even be prepared on the grill instead of the stovetop or oven, for even less cleanup and a cooler home during this sweltering summer weather”

The company is headquartered in San Francisco.
