Survey: Company Digital Strategy Still Short-Term

02/12/2016

The annual Global Digital IQ survey of c-suite executives stated that companies “are almost entirely focused on applying digital to grow their existing business models and the short-sighted view is cause for concern.” On the upside in terms of digital progress, 73 percent of respondents said their company’s CEO “champions digital,” up from 57 percent two years ago. Also, responsibility for digital innovation is evolving away from chief information officers, with 44 percent of respondents saying that their CIO has responsibility for digital across the business, but only 31 percent expecting that to be the case three years from now. When PwC measures what it calls “digital IQ”—an amalgam of responses to 10 questions about digital strategy—retailers scored 77.8, close to the average for all businesses of 77.2.
