Survey: Healthy Outlook for 2016 Seafood Sales
According to results from the brand’s 2016 Retail Seafood Review survey, not a single retail executive participant expects seafood sales to decline in 2016, while nearly half (46.4 percent) believe seafood sales will increase in 2016. The remainder said sales would at least stay the same.
RL’s take: This comes as no surprise, considering that sales of beef and pork are struggling, and demographics such as millennials desire healthier proteins on their plates. And the increasing spending power of millennials could counter their reluctance to shell out a little more money for seafood over, say, poultry, which tends to be less expensive.
