Target to Open Small Store in So. Cal.
The “flexible format” store in a converted Ralphs supermarket will be Target’s 10th in the Los Angeles area and second in Orange County. The store is scheduled to open next October. About one-third the size of a regular Target, the flexible-format stores feature a product assortment tailored to urban clientele in densely populated neighborhoods.
Target used to dub the smaller stores “CityTarget” or TargetExpress, but abandoned that practice last year. The retailer identified Los Angeles as one of 10 urban markets where they seek to expand small-format stores, the Orange County Register reports.
