Tractor Supply Boosts its Distribution
The Tractor Supply Co. distribution network is expanding.
The rural lifestyle retail chain said that it will build a new distribution center in Navarre, Ohio. The approximately 895,000-square-foot Navarre distribution center represents an initial investment of about $70 million. The facility will create more than 375 new full-time jobs by the end of 2023 and service about 250 Tractor Supply stores at full capacity. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in April 2021, with anticipated completion by Fall 2022.
The facility will become the retailer’s ninth distribution center, Tractor Supply said.
“This new distribution center is a significant investment to help serve our growing store base and online sales as we build a strong, relevant company for the future,” said Hal Lawton, Tractor Supply’s president and CEO.
Tractor Supply operates 96 stores in the state of Ohio and 1,904 stores in total across 49 states and eight distribution centers in various locations including Frankfort, New York; Casa Grande, Arizona; Franklin, Kentucky; Hagerstown, Maryland; Macon, Georgia; Pendleton, Indiana; Waco, Texas; and Waverly, Nebraska.
Tractor Supply’s store growth continues in all regions of the country as the Brentwood, Tennessee-based retailer seeks to serve the essential needs of farmers, livestock and pet owners, ranchers, part-time and hobby farmers, gardeners, homeowners, tradesmen and others.
The push for this new distribution comes amid increasing expectations in the retail world for more efficient inventory management and fulfillment, especially as merchants look forward to the new year.
