Utz Continues Acquisition Strategy with Purchase of Wachusett Potato Chip Co.

Marking what will be its a second acquisition this year, snack food maker Utz Quality Foods Inc. purchased Wachusett Potato Chip Co. Inc. including the company's Fitchburg, Mass.-based manufacturing plant, distribution routes and its brand. Utz plans to increase the plant's potato chip output, reported the Telegram.com in Worcester, Mass. Earlier this year, Utz signed a letter of intent to acquire snack producer Zappe Endeavors, with plants in Louisiana, California and Pennsylvania.
