Walmart to Deliver for Home Depot Customers

Walmart has teamed up with Home Depot to execute same-day delivery for the home improvement retailer’s customers.

Home Depot is the first retailer to sign onto Walmart’s white-label GoLocal delivery business, which Walmart recently launched. Home Depot will offer same-day and next-day delivery through the service in select markets in the coming weeks. Home Depot plans to expand the delivery to more markets across the county by the end of the year.

Executive Summary

Walmart’s jump into the delivery business comes after the retailer ramped up its own omnichannel capabilities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Walmart’s e-commerce competitor, Amazon, has also since expanded its shipping capabilities to offer similar services to other retailers.

Deliveries for Home Depot will be limited to items that can easily fit into a car, and products that qualify will have a Walmart GoLocal option at checkout. Home Depot’s delivery network offers delivery for small and bulky items, such as appliances, to its PRO and DIY customers. Customers can still shop in-store and online for pickup at retail locations.
