Walmart has a 'Tasty' new partner
Walmart is partnering with Buzzfeed’s Tasty in an effort to attract more social media savvy shoppers.
Walmart plans to sell kitchen tools, appliances and eventually food through links in Tasty's recipe videos.
Tasty, which calls itself the world's largest social food network, has attracted more than 65 billion video views and is the biggest franchise on Facebook with over 90 million followers.
Consumers who open the Tasty app to view any one of their 2,000+ recipe videos will find recipes including direct links to the kitchen tools, bakeware, and appliances that they need to create a dish – for instance, a slow cooker, a nonstick pan or measuring cups.
And beginning next year, Walmart will integrate groceries alongside services like Walmart's online grocery pickup.
In an interview with Business Insider, Walmart’s vice president of e-commerce, mobile, and digital marketing, Sumaiya Balbale, said Walmart is inspired by how Tasty is redefining the way people find recipes and acknowledges how consumer shopping trends have changed drastically. Walmart hopes this partnership will reach new customers in a deeper way.
