Whole Foods to open first East Coast 365 store
Whole Foods Market will try to turn around declining sales by opening a new concept in Brooklyn.
The Austin, Texas-based company said it has signed a lease to open a 365 store in the Fort Greene neighborhood. Officially known as “365 by Whole Foods Market,” the stores are cheaper to build and operate than a traditional location and offer lower-priced items aimed at younger shoppers.
The first three 365 stores opened in Los Angeles, Bellevue, Wash., and Lake Oswego, Ore., in 2016. Whole Foods says it has 23 of the 365 store leases in development, with the next one planned for Cedar Park, Texas, in April.
