Conventional Milk Sales Sour in 2011, While Organic Has Banner Year

With prices for conventional milk at record levels, sales are declining, and some consumers are switching over to organic milk and other alternatives, such as kefir, Supermarket News reported. Data from SymphonyIRI Group suggests conventional whole milk sales fell 3.7 percent in the 52 weeks ended Nov. 27, while unit sales of Horizon’s organic milk rose 9.7 percent in the same period, the story said.
