CVS Allowing Patrons to Ditch Print Receipts


Customers will have the option to opt out of receiving paper receipts for all in-store purchases when completing their transactions in the front of the store. Once the process is completed, customers will receive receipts digitally, along with their coupons and rewards, each time they shop at CVS Pharmacy.

RL’s take: It’s a wonder why so many retailers still print receipts, considering that collectively, the printing of receipts in the U.S. annually costs more than 250 gallons of oil, 10 million trees and 1 billion gallons of water, generating 1.5 billion pounds of waste, the Clinton Global Initiative University reports.
