User experience (UX)

A person's entire experience using a particular product, system or service, including practical, experiential, meaningful and valuable aspects of human computer interaction and product ownership.

User interface (UI)

Means by which a user and a computer system interact, in particular the use of input devices and software.

Computer vision-based system for tracking a customer s in-store locations and estimating relative age and gender, helpful for collecting demographic data about customer patterns.

Virtual assistant/ Voice-controlled AI

Interactive tool that can interact with consumers to answer their questions.

Virtual dressing room

In-store changing room that allows customers to try on clothes virtually and check fit, size and style virtually.

Virtual omnichannel inventory management

Tool that provides virtual inventory from a large pool of distributors and manufacturers so retailers can easily fulfill customer orders.

Virtual reality (VR)

Computer-generated simulation of 3D images that can be used by retailers for virtual tours, interactive product displays, fitting rooms, customized shopping experiences, and 360 videos for customers.

Virtual world

Computer-simulated 3D environment that a consumer uses to select stores to visit or from which to make purchases.

Visible light communications (VLC)

High precision communication that uses LED lighting to act as a beacon in locating a shopper or a product.

Visual merchandising

Practice of creating visually appealing displays, in-store experiences and designs that drive traffic and maximize sales.

Visual recognition

Ability of software to identify objects, places, people, writing and actions in images.

Voice commerce (v-Commerce)

User interaction with a commercial website that incorporates voice recognition technology.

Voice search

Speech recognition technology that allows users to search by saying terms aloud rather than typing them into a search field.

Voice-activated assistant

Digital assistant that uses voice recognition, natural language processing and speech synthesis to provide aid to users through phones and voice recognition applications.
