Lidl Hikes Wages in UK
Lidl is following the recommendation of the nonprofit Living Wage Foundation of a hourly wage of £8.45 ($10.57), increasing to £9.75 ($12.19) next year. Beginning in April, the nationally mandated minimum wage will increase to £7.50 ($9.38).
Lidl was the first British grocer last year as well to adopt the rate suggested by the Living Wave Foundation. The discount grocer said this led to a 20 percent increase in job applications.
