Made In America Store founder and CEO Mark Andol, in front of the retailer's flagship store in Elma, New York
Made In America Store, which exclusively sells U.S.-manufactured products, is set to open its second brick-and-mortar location on Oct. 7 in Depew, New York, after marking the 10th anniversary of its flagship store, in Elma, New York, earlier this year. The new free-standing store will open in a region devastated by the closing of local shopping malls.
“Business plans have to adapt to seismic changes in the market,” noted Mark Andol, founder and CEO of Made In America Store. “The decision to reduce our presence in shopping malls was entirely premised on changes in consumer spending.”
The retailer now has two free-standing physical locations, as well as a seasonal location in Niagara Falls, and a location within McKinley Mall, in Buffalo, New York. Niagara Falls’ influx of domestic visitors helped stem the loss of international visitation following border closures.
“This year, so many New Yorkers traveled within the state for ‘staycations,’ rediscovering places closer to home and sharing them with their families,” said Andol. “We have found hospitality venues such as restaurants and hotels, and attractions like ours, doing everything in their power to create a safe visitor’s experience in this challenging time of COVID-19.”
He added that although the coronavirus drove many customers to Made In America’s e-commerce site, which continues to perform well, “many consumers prefer to see and touch an item of clothing or product before buying. It is for these shoppers – initially local shoppers, but gradually including tourists from other states when tour buses return – that we will maintain brick-and-mortar sites in western New York.”
Located five minutes from Buffalo Airport and 30 minutes from Niagara Falls, the Depew store's hours will be Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Shoppers will get a 10% discount at the new store during Grand Opening Week or online with coupon code Depew2020, through Sun. Oct. 11.
