  • Sephora launched an unlimited annual same-day delivery service called “Sephora Same-Day Unlimited.”
  • The retailer first offered same-day delivery through Instacart in 2020, and it now partners with Uber, DoorDash and Shipt.
  • The service costs $49 annually, and a single-time delivery costs $6.95.

Sephora this week expanded its same-day delivery options, allowing customers to subscribe to an annual unlimited plan dubbed, “Sephora Same-Day Unlimited.”

In regions where the beauty retailer’s same-day delivery service is available, customers will now be able to pay an annual fee of $49 to get beauty products delivered within a two-hour window, according to the retailer’s website. Customers who don’t want to subscribe to the yearly service can pay a $6.95 fee for a single same-day delivery from Sephora. Shoppers can try the unlimited delivery service for free for 30 days.

In areas where the same-day delivery service is unavailable, Sephora customers who are members of the retailer’s Beauty Insider loyalty program are eligible for free standard delivery. Orders placed through the same-day service are eligible to receive points on Beauty Insider, according to the retailer.

Sephora said it conducted a survey in June that showed 63% of beauty shoppers would purchase a product for same-day delivery if they ran out and needed a replacement immediately, according to a PYMTS report.

The retailer first offered same-day delivery through Instacart in September 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Sephora, same-day delivery orders are now fulfilled through partnerships with the delivery companies Uber, Shipt and DoorDash. Sephora was the first beauty retailer to partner with Shipt when the companies joined forces in March 2022.

Numerous retailers across sectors have continued to double down on their quick delivery offerings. Sporting goods retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods also in September expanded its same-day offerings by partnering with DoorDash after a previous partnership with Instacart. Also this month, BigsLots announced a partnership with DoorDash (it first teamed up with Instacart in 2020) to bring a variety of its in-store goods to consumers for same-day delivery. Other retailers, ranging from Dollar General to cannabis dispensaries, have partnered with delivery services to meet increased demand for products on demand.

Sephora is in the process of opening retail locations inside all of Kohl’s locations across the U.S. The retailers announced the partnership in 2020 and Sephora began opening stores inside the department store last year. The beauty retailer previously partnered with JCPenney, though it’s in the process of pulling out of the stores and it will be out of them entirely by January 2023 as JCPenney replaces it with its in-house concept, JCPenney Beauty, Retail Leader reported.
