Super Bowl Viewers To Set Spending Record

Results from NRF’s Super Bowl Spending Survey report that viewers and partygoers will spend an average of $82.19 on food, décor, team apparel, and more, up from $77.88 last year and the highest reported total in the survey’s history. More than three-quarters (79.8 percent) of the people planning to watch the game will purchase food, and 4.5 percent say enjoying “fun food” is the most important part of the day. Additionally, more than three-quarters (78.6 percent) say they view commercials during the game as entertainment, with 17.5 percent of viewers saying the commercials make them aware of advertisers’ brands, and 10.3 percent saying the commercials influence them to buy products from the advertisers.
